NOTES FROM THE CHAIR
Dear Volunteers and Friends,
Well, spring sneezin' is here. Time to do all those cleaning chores now that you can open up the windows and let all that stale air out. We can also turn off our heaters for a few days, but it won't be long before we close our windows and turn on our air conditioners.
As of this writing, the Literacy Council has only one student being tutored, and he keeps missing his sessions. It may be time for the Council to rethink its purpose. If you know of an educational need that isn't being met, let us know about it.
Our partner, Rogue Learning and Resource Center, is conducting free computer literacy classes through the Jackson County Library Service. This program is finishing its second series of classes. If you want to learn to use a computer, surf the Web, or communicate via e-mail, call your local library to sign up.
A Literacy Council event coming soon is our annual Pizza Party in June. Our volunteers and Board Members get to dine free at the Round Table restaurant in the Medford Center. I'm already salivating.
Have a great season - and tell us your ideas.

TUTOR'S CORNER
Madhavi Vellenki, my former student, has recently obtained her driver's license and is currently working on her citizenship. Congratulations! Her fourth-grade daughter, Ashwarya, is being quite helpful. The family has used their computer to get a list of questions and answers to prepare for citizenship.
