NOTES FROM THE CHAIR
Dear Volunteers and Friends,
So which
is it? Is 2010 the beginning of a new decade or 2011? I'm still
troubled by the chicken and the egg issue. In any case, Happy New
Year!
Last quarter was fun. We had a good turnout at the
Marie Callender's dinner party in November. I learned that another
Literacy Council student, Elizabeth Baines, passed the GED test. And
I received enough coal in my Christmas stocking to barbecue a
meatball.
Although we haven't done much to promote our
services, we are still getting applications from new students and
volunteers. Easter Seals, Living Opportunities, and Head Start have
all been asking for student applications. If our placement officer,
Liz Koester, hasn't already called you, and you want to take on a
new student, leave a message at the office. Remember, this month you
have to dial the area code while the phone company is making room
for more numbers.
Thanks to Nancy Calcagno, we have a new
format for our newsletter. I think it looks great, but she could use
a few words from our volunteers to fill the pages. TUTORS is "of,"
"by," and "for" the tutors, so send in your comments.

Name two things you might wear on your foot,
same number of letters in each word. Change
one letter in each of these words to a new letter
and you'll name a classic movie. What is it?
